Saturday, 8:00 AM Youth Group Yard Sale at church
Valley youth are having a yard sale at church this Saturday to raise money for their summer retreat. If you have items you are donating for them to sell, you can bring them to church and leave them in the entry area any day this week. If you wish to rent a table to use as you sell your own items, they are $10.00. Talk with Erin Peterson or Florence Doller for more information or if you have questions.
We expect to honor our high school and college graduates on Sunday, June 19. There is a sheet posted on the door where you can inform us of anyone in the congregation who is a graduate this year. We don’t want to miss anyone.
The annual spring congregational meeting will be Tuesday, June 7 at 7:00 PM. We hope all Valley families will be represented at this meeting. There will be an update from the pastor search team and other teams, as well as approval of the slate of nominees for council members. One elder, Florence Doller, and one deacon, David Derzanovich, have agreed to extend their terms for an added year. We have two nominees for elder (George de Jager and Paul Peterson). There are no nominees at this time for the other deacon position being vacated. Council is continuing to seek more nominees for vacant positions and will call a special meeting once nominees are available.
NEXT SUNDAY, June 5, 2011
SUNDAY SCHOOL: 9:15 AM Classes for all ages. The adult class continues the video series “The Controversial Jesus”.
MORNING WORSHIP: 10:30 AM Pastor Gelder will bring us God’s Word, continuing a series of messages on “Things I Want to Say.” The message this week will be “It Is Always Christ’s Church,” based on Matthew 16:18. This will also be our time to celebrate the ascension of Jesus.
We will celebrate Holy Communion at this service. If you are uncertain about your participation in this sacrament, please talk with the pastor or an elder this week. Baptism will also be celebrated as Matt and Shannon Lamb present Nathan for baptism.
We will welcome David and Sara Bosscher to Valley Church as we commission David to his ministry as our summer intern. You will have opportunity to meet David and Sara at the coffee hour that follows worship. This time of fellowship is also an opportunity to say farewell to Al, Jan and Betsy Gelder if you will not be able to be at the retirement celebration on Saturday, June 25.
