Hear the words of our Savior:

We come not because we ought, but because we may,
not because we are righteous, but because we are penitent,
not because we are strong, but because we are weak,
not because we are whole, but because we are broken.

THIS WEEK IN THE LIFE OF VALLEY CHURCH
Monday, 7:00 PM Council meets
Thursday, 7:30 AM Dick’s Open breakfast, Kalurah Shrine
Thursday, 7:00 PM Prayer Meeting
Thursday, 7:30 PM Worship Team meets

This morning our worship includes the celebration of Holy Communion.  This gift Jesus gave to the church is for all who have publicly professed Jesus as their personal Savior and who are living the life Jesus wants them to live as forgiven people.  The bread and cup will be passed to you where you are sitting.  We will eat and drink together after all have been served.

Once again the Fellowship Team is arranging refreshments for the summer Sundays.  If you can help with a Sunday, please see Ann De Jager or sign up on the sheet which will be on the front door.

Thank you to all who have agreed to be an encourager for one or more of the children and youth who publicly professed Jesus as their Savior and Lord during the NYPENN Franklin Graham Festival.  We can still use a few more adults to serve as a friend and mentor.  Talk with Debby Harmon if you will be that person.

Dick Crawford has begun his chemotherapy.  Pray that the chemo will work and that Dick will have strength as he receives the treatments.  Continue to pray for Jacob Komaromi as he recovers from the heart procedure he underwent Friday in Syracuse.  Jim Wilson had hernia repair surgery at Wilson Hospital on Friday.  Pray for his speedy and complete recovery.

This afternoon we are providing a worship time for the residents of Fairview-Good Shepherd Home.  If you can join the Gelders at 3:30 PM to help with singing and talking with the people who come to worship, that will be great.  The chapel is on the third floor – check in at the main desk for directions.

Valley Church has once again reserved seats for the Willow Creek Summit to be broadcast via satellite to Syracuse on August 9-11.  We need to firm up the list of those who plan to participate, so if you are going to attend or are interested in finding out more information about this inspiring and challenging event, let Pastor Gelder know as soon as you can.  We ask that those who attend pay $75.00 if you can and the church will pick up the rest of the cost.

Next Sunday, July 15, 2007

MORNING WORSHIP:     10:00 AM   Our worship will be led by Pastor Gelder.  He continues the summer series of messages on “The Hard Sayings of Jesus”, this week hearing the word of Jesus that “Children Are the Greatest” based on Matthew 18:1-5.  We will also celebrate the sacrament of baptism as we claim God’s covenant promises for Alyssa Jacob and Aiden Wood.
