WE ENTER INTO GOD’S PRESENCE
Preparation for Worship
*Call to Worship
In your wisdom, O God, you call us here to worship you.
We gather, alive to the Word of God.
You call us to be fully alive with your life abundant, ready to listen and respond with heart, soul, strength, and mind.
We listen, alive to the Word of God.
You call us to be always watchful for your Word of wisdom, sometimes startling and unexpected, sometimes still and quiet, but always dwelling among us.
We watch and wait for the Word of God.
You call us to be always hearing and living the Word you bring to us, a Word of life and joy.
We will listen so we can live for you this week.

Call to Confession
We know that nothing is able to separate us from the love of God in Jesus Christ. Let us in freedom confess the wrong we have done.
Prayer of Confession
Merciful God, we confess that we have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done, and by what we have left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart and mind and strength. We have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. In your mercy forgive what we have been, help us amend what we are, and direct what we shall be, so that we may delight in your will and walk in your ways, to the glory of your holy name. Through Christ, our Lord. Amen.
Assurance of Pardon
Hear these comforting words: If you repent and believe in God’s redeeming mercy, your sins are forgiven. Trust in God’s promises and begin anew your life with God and all people in the name of Jesus Christ.
Call to Grateful Living
We respond to God’s forgiveness by living our thanks according to God’s Word. Hear now God’s will for our lives:

7:00 PM Ash Wednesday worship
Lent begins this week with Ash Wednesday. We will meet for a short and simple service of preparation for this time of remembering our Lord’s suffering on our part. You will be able to receive ashes on your forehead or hand if you wish as a picture of our mortality and the amazing gift of life in Christ.
Please remember to return the baby bottles filled with your pocket change (bills are accepted too!) so we can turn them in to the Life Choices Center as soon as possible. Thank you for your support.
During Lent some of the elders will take part leading the opening of the worship services as a reminder of the continuity of the church during this time of pastoral leadership.
The Worship Team is assembling a team of persons to operate the sound and projection systems on a rotation basis. Training will be provided. If you are interested in serving in this capacity, talk with Al Vos.
NEXT SUNDAY, March 13, 2011
SUNDAY SCHOOL: 9:15 AM Classes for all ages meet. The adult class, joined by the teens, will continue the series “Becoming a Good Samaritan.” This video-led discussion, hosted by John Ortberg and developed in partnership with World Vision, is intended to help Christians live out Christ’s love in world-changing ways, right now, right here.
MORNING WORSHIP: 10:30 AM Pastor Gelder will bring us God’s Word. He will begin a series of Lenten messages “Look at Jesus”, starting with “The Bread of Life”, based on John 6:25-40.
We will celebrate the Lord’s Supper at this service. Take some time this week to do a spiritual self-examination. If this raises any questions about your participation in the sacrament, please talk with the pastor or an elder this week.
PLEASE NOTE: Daylight Savings Time begins this weekend. Remember to turn your clock ahead one hour Saturday night or you will be one of the embarrassed ones walking up the steps just as worship is nearing the end. You can regain the hour of sleep lost during the night with a restful afternoon nap.
