Call to Confession
When we come into the holy presence of God, our own humanity is laid bare.  When we stand in the living presence of truth, our own falsehood is revealed.  People of God, let us acknowledge who we are and ask our ever-present God to forgive us.
Prayer of Confession
God of grace, we confess that we have elevated the things of this world above you.
We have made idols of possessions and people and used your name for causes that are not consistent with you and your purposes.  We have permitted our schedules to come first and have not taken the time to worship you.  We have not always honored those who guided us in life.  We have participated in systems that take life instead of give it.  We have been unfaithful in our covenant relationships.  We have yearned for, and sometimes taken, that which is not ours, and we have misrepresented others’ intentions.
Forgive us, O God, for the many ways we fall short of your glory.  Help us to learn to live together according to your ways through Jesus Christ, our Lord.  Amen.
Assurance of Pardon
Hear the good news!  Who is in a position to condemn?  Only Christ, and Christ died for us, Christ rose for us, Christ reigns in power for us, Christ prays for us.  Anyone who is in Christ is a new creation.  The old life has gone; a new life has begun.  Know that you are forgiven, and be at peace.
Thanks be to God!

Thank you to all who helped clean up the church and grounds on Saturday.  If you were not able to be there, you can still help with remaining projects.  Talk with Tim Brown to find out what still needs to be done.

The Christian Fellowship Breakfast associated with the Dick’s Sporting Goods Open golf tournament is Thursday, June 24, 7:30 AM.  Tickets, which include admission to the pro-am that day, are still just $10.00.  We will again have designated tables for Valley folk and friends.  You can get your tickets from Ron Crawford.

The annual spring congregational meeting is this Wednesday at 7:30 PM.  In addition to other business and reports, we will be selecting our leaders for the coming years.  Nominees for two elder positions are Doug Aukema, Ron Crawford and Greg Huck.  Nominees for three deacon positions are Marsha Conrad, Beth Cunningham, Henry Huizinga and Terry Woodnorth.  You will be asked to approve the slate of nominees prior to the selection by lot of those who will serve.  If at all possible, each family should be represented as we conduct important business for Christ’s church here.

Pray for the delegates to the Synod of the Christian Reformed Church as they travel to Chicago this week for the annual meeting.  Tim Brown is one of the delegates from Classis Atlantic Northeast.  Meetings begin on Saturday morning and continue through most of next week.  You can follow what is going on by going to the CRCNA web site at www.crcna.org and following the links to Synod.  Many of the sessions are streamed live.

NOTE:  We will be changing to our summer worship schedule on June 20.  From then through Labor Day weekend, worship will begin at 10:00 AM.  There will be no Sunday School classes but children’s church activities will continue for the summer.  If you can help with a couple Sundays, talk with Ron or Janet Crawford.

Graduation Sunday will be observed on June 27.  To make sure we don’t miss any of our high school or college graduates, please place their names on the sheet on the door as you leave today.  Thank you.

Jerry Krempel spent a couple days at Wilson Hospital this week, returning home Wednesday evening.  Pray for him that he will regain strength and energy.

We thank God that Inger Thomas’ shoulder is beginning to heal.  Pray that the healing continues and that she will have patience during the lengthy recovery time.

Congratulations to Dan Huizinga and Erin Downs as they will be married this Saturday afternoon in a ceremony here at Valley Church.  May God bless them in keeping the vows they will make to each other and before God.
