ANNOUNCEMENTS

Today is Palm Sunday and we will celebrate the entry of King Jesus into Jerusalem.  The children will enter this morning carrying palm branches and will distribute them to all, along with a special gift they made, before they leave for children’s church.  They will also be sharing the Easter musical program.  Thank you to all the children who are taking part, and thank you too to the teachers and other volunteers who helped with practices and other details.  There will be refreshments after the service when you can personally thank the children and staff for the fine job they did.

Plan to join us at Valley Church on Thursday evening, 7:30 PM for the Maundy Thursday celebration of Holy Communion.  We will come to the front to receive God’s gifts of bread and juice.  If you prefer not to come forward, an elder will be ready to serve you where you are seated.

The Chenango Valley area Good Friday service is being held at the Nimmonsburg United Methodist Church at 7:00 PM Friday.  (The church is on Front St. near Broome Community College).  Plan to join our friends and neighbors in this observance of our Lord’s suffering and death.

Thea Huizinga has been in Lourdes Hospital most of the week.  Pray for her and Joe during this difficult time.

Women’s retreat at Baldwinsville on Apr. 25. Registration forms are available from Ann De Jager and need to be returned by Friday, April 10.

Council notes:
1.Pastor Gelder led the devotions, reading from Philippians 2 and urging us to serve others as Jesus served us.
2.We prayerfully decided who we will ask to be nominated for the slate of elder and deacon nominees.

SUNDAY SCHOOL:  9:45 AM  Sunday School classes do not meet this week.  Regular classes will resume next Sunday.

EARLY WORSHIP:7:30 AM  Join us on the front lawn as we welcome the risen Lord.  If it is rainy or too cold, we will meet indoors.

EASTER BREAKFAST:  8:30 – 10:30 AM  You can stay after the early service or come early to the regular worship, but we’d love to have you join us for Easter breakfast.  There will be eggs, sausage, pancakes, muffins, juice, milk and coffee.  To help the people in the small group that are planning and preparing the meal, please sign up today on the sheet in the entry if you plan to attend.

MORNING WORSHIP:     11:00 AM  Pastor Gelder brings the Easter message “The Greatest Story Never Told”, based on Mark 16:8.  Invite a friend to join you for the celebration of the great victory over death and sin.  Hallelujah!  What a Savior!
