*Closing Promise
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures.
He leadeth me beside still waters.
He restoreth my soul.
He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil.
Thy rod and thy staff, they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of my enemies.
Thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
(Psalm 23)
*Blessed to Serve – Hebrews 13:20-21

Thank you to all who brought baskets and items to fill the baskets so that our youth group could make Easter baskets again for some children in our local area. We are also thankful to God that our youth are interested in helping others in need. What a generous spirit!
It is time to prayerfully consider who might serve Valley Church as elders and deacons in the coming years. Please use the insert you received last Sunday to suggest names of persons you feel are qualified for these positions. There are some extra forms on the table in the entry if you need one. Note that we expect to replace three of our elders and two of our deacons this year. As you consider who to suggest, do not include any of the people serving on the Pastor Search Committee, as this is already a major commitment of time and energy. Completed forms must be placed in Beth Cunningham’s mail slot no later than Sunday, April 17.
Cindy Krempel continues her recovery from knee surgery. Pray for good progress. Thank God with Connie Starr that the heart procedure done on her son Bobby showed no significant heart issues.
NEXT SUNDAY, April 10, 2011
SUNDAY SCHOOL: 9:15 AM Classes for all ages meet. The adult class will continue the “That the World May Know” video series with Ray Vander Laan. The segment we are studying is titled “Fire on the Mountain” and deals with the wilderness stories of Israel after they crossed the Red Sea and before entering Canaan. All are welcome.
MORNING WORSHIP: 10:30 AM Pastor Gelder will bring us God’s Word. He will continue the series of Lenten messages “Look at Jesus”, focusing on “The Footwasher”, based on John 13:1-17.
The second offering is for support of a Christian school in the Dominican Republic which is led by Lisette Perez Matos and her husband. Lisette was a student at Broome Community College some years ago and lived with Al and Joyce Vos for part of that time, worshipping with them here at Valley. Since her return to the Dominican Republic, she and her husband have been involved in pastoring a church and building and leading a Christian school. They continue to be in need of supplies and furnishings. Our generous support is greatly needed and appreciated.
