We come, kneeling before you, Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name. We pray that out of your glorious riches you will strengthen us with power through your Spirit in our inner being, so that Christ will dwell in our hearts through faith. And we pray that we, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all your people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge. We pray this so that we may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of you, our great and merciful God.
Amen.

Monday, 7:00 PM Growth and Renewal Team meets
Thursday, 7:00 PM Prayer Meeting
The Middle School Youth will meet this afternoon.
Thank you to all who so effectively helped us “Shine Christ’s Light in Our Valley” last Sunday. Our neighbors who came had a good time, they were warmly welcomed by many Valley Church people, and they saw us working together at our best.
Just a reminder that if you were unable to attend the adult Sunday School class this morning, there will be a repeat class this afternoon at 5:00. All are invited as we continue to study the “Follow Me” material.
Delegates from the churches of Classis Atlantic Northeast will be meeting this Wednesday evening and Thursday at the Lakeside Retreat Center in Pittsfield, Mass. Pastor Al Gelder, elder George De Jager and deacon Greg Huck will represent Valley Church. Pray for safe travel and for wisdom in addressing the issues that are on the agenda.
Remember to bring your empty shoe boxes to church in the next couple weeks so the Sunday School classes can fill them for Operation Christmas Child. This outreach of Samaritan’s Purse provides gifts and basic supplies for children in many poor communities world wide, done in the name of Christ.
The finance team reminds all the other ministry teams that all budget proposals must be submitted to Dave Derzanovich by October 15. Thanks for your cooperation.
Council Notes: 1. Our devotions led us to reflect on the world-wide church, based on Psalm 98. 2. We reviewed responses to the Fall Festival and unanimously recommended it be held again in 2008. 3. Council officers for the coming year are: President – Al Gelder; Vice-president – George De Jager; Secretary – Paul Peterson; Treasurer – Greg Huck. 4. The agenda for the fall meeting of Classis Atlantic Northeast was reviewed. 5. Council districts were updated. 6. Ministry team reports were reviewed. 7. We noted with thanks the completion of the window replacement project and the fact that total cost of the project was well below estimates. Thank you for your generous financial support of this above-budget need. 8. There will be a special council meeting on October 8 to make salary recommendations for 2008 to the finance team.
Next Sunday, October 7, 2007
SUNDAY SCHOOL: 9:45 AM Classes for all ages. The adult class concludes the discipleship series “Follow Me”. There will be a repeat class offered at 5:00 PM for those unable to be at the morning class.
MORNING WORSHIP: 11:00 AM Pastor Gelder will lead our worship, concluding the series on being a disciple of Jesus. The message “The Only Way” will be based on John 14:1-17.
There will be a brief meeting immediately after the service of all present Scripture readers, as well as those interested in doing so in the future.
