Call to Confession – Luke 17:1-8
Prayer of Confession
God of transfiguration, you meet us in the ordinary as well as the extraordinary moments of life. We seek you in the valleys and on the mountaintops. Yet we admit that too often our eyes are blind to your presence, too often our ears are deaf to your call. When you reach out to us through the cries of the hungry and homeless, too often our hearts shrink from your touch. Forgive us, we pray, and set us free to love and serve. Amen.
Assurance of Pardon –
Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And all of us, with unveiled faces, seeing the glory of the Lord as though reflected in a mirror, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another, for this comes from the Lord, the Spirit. In Jesus Christ we are forgiven and transformed!
Praise be to God!

THIS WEEK IN THE LIFE OF VALLEY CHURCH
At the council meeting last Sunday we met with the Redfern family as they all expressed their personal faith in Jesus as Savior and their desire to become members of Valley Church. We were delighted to approve their request. Michael, Maria, Casey and Jesse will also receive the sign of baptism when they publicly profess their faith.
Tuesday, 7:00 PM Elders meet
Thursday, 7:00 PM Prayer Meeting
Dick Crawford has been in Wilson Hospital this week being treated for an infection and a low white cell count. Pray that the treatments are effective and that he can both return home soon and feel better as well.
If you are interested in attending the Willow Creek Summit via satellite feed to Syracuse August 9-11, today is the last day to talk with Pastor Gelder. He will be finalizing our registrations tomorrow. Just a reminder that this conference is not only for council members but is invigorating and challenging for all who lead informally as well.
Once again Broome Community College is looking for host families for 20 students from Central America and the Caribbean who will be arriving mid-August to study at BCC as part of the CASS Program. There is more information on the papers posted at the information center.
Remember that the church picnic has been rescheduled for August 12. Stay tuned for more information and sign ups.
Next Sunday, August 5, 2007
MORNING WORSHIP: 10:00 AM Our worship will be led by Messianic Rabbi Ron Goldberg. We are pleased to welcome him back to Valley Church. The Gelders will be in Michigan while Betsy attends Camp Sunshine over the weekend, leaving here Thursday and returning next Tuesday.
