Prayer of Confession
Lord, bring new life where we are worn and tired;
new love where we have turned hard-hearted;
forgiveness where we feel hurt and where we have wounded;
and the joy and freedom of your Holy Spirit where we are prisoners of ourselves.
(Time of silent prayer)
Assurance of Pardon
To all and to each, where regret is real,
to his penitent community and to his remorseful friends,
Jesus pronounces his pardon and grants us the right to begin again.
Thanks be to God! Amen.

THIS WEEK IN THE LIFE OF VALLEY CHURCH
Thursday, 7:00 PM National Day of Prayer service
The Christian Life and Witness classes continue this week. If you were unable to attend last week, it is still appropriate to take in the last three weeks. Please check the posters around church to identify where and when the classes are being offered.
Just a reminder that if you wish to help us meet the cost of renting buses for our neighbors to ride to and from the Festival in June, please use an envelope that you can find in the pews and designate “bus” on the memo line. Thank you.
Thursday is the National Day of Prayer. There will be a prayer service here at Valley Church at 7:00 PM. Plan to join us in prayer for our nation and world. We live in troubled times. If you cannot personally join us at the church you can call in to the building and join those who are here by praying over the phone. See Ron Crawford or Bill Kutz to get more information on how to do this.
The Gelders are away this week, making a quick trip to see family in Tennessee and Michigan and for Pastor Gelder to preach next Sunday evening as part of the 125th anniversary celebration of his home church. They plan to be home again Monday evening. Please contact an elder should you need special care during this week.
We will be honoring our graduates on June 17. To make sure we don’t miss anyone, there is a sign-up sheet on the door. Please indicate the name of the graduates, along with the school they are graduating from and future plans. Thank you.
Council notes: 1. Greg Huck met with council to tell his faith story and to express his desire to become a member of Valley Church. His request was approved. He will be publicly received at a later date. 2. We approved having a regular prayer meeting each Thursday evening at 7:00 PM. Council encourages your participation. For a three month trial period, we will set up a toll-free phone number to which you can call and participate over speaker phone if you cannot come to the meeting in person. 3. We approved a list of names of people who will be asked to have their names in nomination for elder or deacon. 4. The spring congregational meeting will be held on Thursday, June 14.
Next Sunday, May 6, 2007
SUNDAY SCHOOL: 9:45 AM Sunday School classes for all ages. The adult class continues the study of the book of Philippians, “Paul’s Thank You Letter.” All are invited to participate.
MORNING WORSHIP: 11:00 AM Our worship will be led by Messianic Jewish Rabbi Ron Goldberg. We welcome him back to Valley Church as he again leads us in worshiping the living Jesus.
