ANNOUNCEMENTS

Wednesday, 9:30 AM  Women’s Bible study at Ruth Giese’s home.  Read        Hebrews 7.
Thursday, 7:00 PM Prayer Meeting
Saturday, 5:30 PM Parents’ Night Out

The second offering today is for CRWRC Disaster Response Services.  The “green shirts” are well known for a long-range approach to disaster response.  One part of this is the push for rebuilding in areas still recovering from hurricane Katrina.  Your generous financial support will be put to good use.

Thank you for your generous support of the CHOW Hunger Walk.  Betsy Gelder was able to turn in $465.00 to help feed hungry families in Broome County in the coming year.

IT’S TODAY, 5:00 PM - the congregational forum on the question of whether young children should take part in the Lord’s Supper.  The elders will present material which provides the rationale for our present policy of expecting a public profession of faith before partaking of the bread and cup, as well as the reasons why it may be appropriate to allow all baptized children to receive the elements.  There is no proposal for change; we are simply looking at this question which is being discussed in the CRC and which is practiced different ways in different denominations.  Hope you will participate.

Parents’ Night Out for November is this Saturday from 5:30 – 8:30 PM.  If you are planning to have a child attend, please sign the sheet on the door so we can plan on their presence.  Also, this month a few of our “regulars” are unable to be here to staff a station or to guide the children around, so if you can help out, even just this one time, please talk with Erin Peterson today.

Unless you enjoy coming to church an hour early, you will want to turn your clocks BACK this Saturday night after you get home from Parents’ Night Out.  Of course, an extra hour of meditation might be just what you need!

Operation Christmas Child is doing great.  Thank you for the 58 shoe boxes, the school supplies, the hygiene items and the toys.  We hope you brought in lots of other “stuff” too this week.  Remember that it costs $7 to ship each box.  You can designate a gift for this by using one of the envelopes in the pew or writing “Shoeboxes” on the memo line of your check.  Above all, pray for the children who will receive these boxes, praying that they will come to know Jesus whose birth is the real reason for the gifts.

Continue to pray for Dick Crawford as he resumes his chemotherapy this week.  Pray that Dot Simonds recovers quickly and completely from her knee surgery.  Debbie Harmon will have back surgery this Wednesday.  Pray for all who are dealing with ailments of varying kinds.

Steven Derzanovich will usually have e-mail access while in Iraq.  His address is thederz6@aim.com.  Short notes will be great, though he may not have much time to reply.

Pastor Gelder and Jan will be away most of the week attending a conference for regional pastors and spouses.  Contact an elder if you need pastoral care.

Next Sunday, November 4, 2007

SUNDAY SCHOOL:  9:45 AM   Classes for all ages.  The adult class continues the class on “Faith”, using the book written by John Ortberg “If You Want to Walk on Water, You’ve God to Get Out of the Boat.”

MORNING WORSHIP:     11:00 AM   Pastor Gelder will lead our worship.  He will continue the series of messages on Jeremiah, focusing on Jeremiah 9:23-24 “The Right Kind of Boasting”.  We will also be observing World Hunger Sunday, renewing our commitment to work toward justice for all, including the hungry and poor in our world.  A part of this will be a “reverse offering” where you draw pieces of paper with food items you then bring to help us fill the annual Thanksgiving baskets distributed to needy families in the CF school district.
