WE ENTER INTO GOD’S PRESENCE
Preparation for Worship
*Call to Worship
Arise, shine, for your light has come!
The glory of the Lord has risen upon us.
Let us praise the Lord together.
The sun shall no longer be our light by day,
nor will the brightness of the moon shine on us,
for the Lord will be our light,
and our God will be our glory.
The Lord will be our everlasting light,
and our days of sorrow will end.
Come, let us sing to our light and salvation!

*Blessed for Service
Christ is the light of our souls:
We rejoice in this light, great source of truth.
Christ is the light of our homes:
We rejoice in this light, great source of peace.
Christ is the light of the world:
We rejoice in this light, great source of hope.
Go out as Christ’s true lights, dispersing the darkness of evil,
For his grace, his power and his peace go with you.
May the light of the glorious gospel of Christ shine in our hearts, transform our lives, and brighten the world.
And the blessing of God almighty, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, rest upon you always.
Amen.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

This morning we celebrate with Andy and Mindi Jacob the covenant promises of God for their son Andrew William as they present Drew for baptism.  May God give them and their families the wisdom and strength to train him in God’s ways, both by their words and by their example.
The Gelders are taking a week of vacation with family in Michigan.  They plan to leave on Tuesday and return the following Tuesday, January 5.
Our prayers of sympathy go to the De Young families on the death of Herleen’s uncle Herbert C. Hoover last Sunday.  We thank God that Pete and Herleen were able to be with him at his home in California when he died and could provide care during his final days.  May God’s comfort sustain all in this loss.
There will not be a New Year’s Eve service this year, since so few expressed their desire and intent to attend should one be held.  Our worship services both this Sunday and next will relate to the passing of time and the changing of years.
NEXT SUNDAY, January 3, 2010
SUNDAY SCHOOL:  9:15 AM No classes this week.  Classes for all ages resume on January 10.
MORNING WORSHIP: 10:30 AM   In Pastor Gelder’s absence, Ron Crawford will bring us a message from God’s Word.
