ANNOUNCEMENTS
Memorial Day had its start as a day to honor war dead following the Civil War and has come to be a day for remembering not only those who died in war serving this country but also a time for remembering all our loved ones who have died. If you are still grieving recent losses, may the God of all comfort sustain you. And may our grief be softened as we give thanks for loved ones who are with the Lord and whose lives helped shape us into the people we are today.
Wednesday, 6:00 AM Men’s Breakfast and Bible study at the Spot
9:30 AM Women’s Bible Study at

Thank you to all who wrote letters last week to members of Congress, urging them to use their offices to help make US foreign assistance programs more effective in reducing hunger and poverty. If you wrote and mailed letters from home, please let the deacons know so they will have an accurate tally of our participation this year. If you still wish to write a letter, you can do so this week. A deacon can give you the background material you need to do this.
Reserve Wednesday evening, June 3, 7:30 PM for the regular spring congregational meeting. We will be selecting people to serve as elder and deacon for the coming term, plus there will be important updates and reports. Each Valley family should be represented at this meeting.
We plan to honor our graduates on June 28. We don’t want to miss anyone, so please put the names of all our high school and college graduates, along with the school from which they are graduating, on the list posted on the exit door.
David De Young’s knee surgery on Tuesday went well. Pray for his complete recovery and for patience until that happens.

The is also Pentecost Sunday, the day we celebrate the gift of the Holy Spirit coming to earth, giving the church the power needed to be God’s presence in this world.
