WE ENTER INTO GOD’S PRESENCE
Preparation for Worship
Opening Prayer
God our sustainer, we ask you to pour your powerful Spirit into all who are empty this day:
Fill the hearts of persons who are troubled.
Fill the minds of men and women who are confused.
Fill the stomachs of your children who are hungry.
Fill the souls of people who are feeling lost.
Fill the lives of all who need you, but do not know you.
May your Spirit fill us all to overflowing, dear Lord, and may we be inspired to share our abundance with others, so that there will be no more empty hearts and minds, stomachs and souls.
We pray all this in the name of Jesus Christ, who fills lives with your endless grace. Amen.

Opening Statement
I encourage you as members of Valley Church, part of the body of Christ in North America and around the world, to follow the progress of the Sea to Sea tour and to support its cyclists and staff with your prayers as together we raise awareness and resources to fight poverty. Will you promise to support and pray for all the cyclists, support staff, agencies, groups, and individuals who will benefit form this bold adventure?
We will, God helping us!
Jesus comes to Peter and says, “Peter, do you love me?” “Yes,” Peter replies, “Then feed my sheep.” That command given to Peter is the benchmark of the Christian community. If we love Jesus, we need to feed, care for, and reach out to His sheep.
Psalm 121 (A Song of Ascents)
I lift up my eyes to the mountains – where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.
He will not let your foot slip – he who watches over you will not slumber;
indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.
The Lord watches over you – the Lord is your shade at your right hand;
the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night.
The Lord will keep you from all harm – he will watch over your life;
the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.
Prayer of Dedication
Merciful and gracious God, we thank you that you provide faithful and gifted people in the service of your church. Please watch over and protect all those involved in this tour as they travel across North America. Give them the strength and endurance to face every mountain and valley along the way. Provide wisdom to handle the hardships, and conviction that you will do a mighty work this summer as we share Christ’s love with each other and our neighbors. For the sake of your precious Son, our Lord, in whose name we pray. Amen.

Wednesday, 11:30 AM Women’s Luncheon at
Thursday, 7:00 PM Hymn sing and ice cream social
This morning we will join with Christian Reformed churches across the United States and Canada in observing Sea to Sea Sunday, a time to pray for the tour – its participants and its goals – and to dedicate it to the glory of God. The tour begins on June 30 in Seattle, comes through Binghamton on Wednesday, August 27, and ends in Jersey City on Saturday, August 30.
If you ordered a copy of the “Shifting Gears” devotional booklet to use during the Sea to Sea bike tour, please pick up your copy from the table in the entry. You can put the $8.00 cost in the envelope on the table and please check off your name from the list so we know who still needs to get their book.
Plan to be here Thursday evening for a time of singing and fellowship. We’ll start with a hymn sing at 7:00. Today is the last day to suggest songs you’d like to have us sing – sign up on one of the sheets on the table in the back of church. At 8:00 we’ll adjourn outside (weather permitting) for ice cream sundaes and conversation. Invite friends to come with you for both.
Repeat announcements about Summit and Dick’s Open breakfast.
