WE ENTER INTO GOD’S PRESENCE
Preparation for Worship
Call to Worship –
Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise;
His greatness no one can fathom.
O Lord, there is none like you.
One generation commends your works to another;
They tell of your mighty acts.
O Lord, there is none like you.
They speak of the glorious splendor of your majesty –
And I will meditate on your wonderful works.
They celebrate your abundant goodness and joyfully sing of your righteousness.
O Lord, there is none like you.

Call to Confession
In spite of God’s love for us and gift of love to us, we often act in destructive and hateful ways.  We close our hearts to God and disobey God’s law.  Together let us confess our sin.
Prayer of Confession –
Out of the depths I cry to you, O Lord.
Lord, hear my voice!
Let your ears be attentive to the voice of my supplications!
If you, O Lord, should mark iniquities, Lord, who could stand?
But there is forgiveness with you, so that you may be revered.
I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, and in his word I hope.
Silent Prayer
Assurance of Pardon
People of God, hope in the Lord!  For with the Lord there is steadfast love, and with him is great power to redeem.
He will redeem us from all our iniquities.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Wednesday, 9:30 AM  Women’s Bible study at Ruth Giese’s home.  Read        Hebrews 6.
Wednesday, 11:30 AM Women’s Luncheon at Denny’s
Thursday, 7:00 PM Prayer Meeting

The second offering next Sunday will be for CRWRC Disaster Response Services.  The “green shirts” are well known for a long-range approach to disaster response.  One part of this is the push for rebuilding in areas still recovering from hurricane Katrina.  Your generous financial support will be put to good use.

The annual CHOW Hunger Walk takes place at Binghamton University this afternoon starting at 1:00 PM.  Betsy Gelder plans to ride the route in her wheel chair and will be pleased to receive your support.  See her or her dad after the service today to sign her donation envelop and to give her your contribution.  CHOW again needs your generous support as they replenish the shelves in the warehouse in anticipation of a busy winter season.

Reserve next Sunday, October 28, 5:00 PM - there will be a congregational forum on the question of whether young children should take part in the Lord’s Supper.  The elders will be presenting material which provides the rationale for our present policy of expecting a public profession of faith before partaking of the bread and cup, as well as the reasons why it may be appropriate to allow all baptized children to receive the elements.  There is no proposal for change; we are simply looking at this question which is being discussed in the CRC and which is practiced different ways in different denominations.

Operation Christmas Child is doing great.  Thank you for the 58 shoe boxes, the school supplies and the hygiene items.  We hope you brought in lots of small toys this week.  The focus next week is on “other stuff”.  Check the papers on the easel in the entry for specific ideas.  Remember that it costs $7 to ship each box.  Above all, pray for the children who will receive these boxes.

Continue to pray for Dick Crawford as he continues his chemotherapy.  Pray too for Beth Cunningham as she meets this week with doctors to map out a treatment plan for her cancer.

Next Sunday, October 28, 2007
