On the first day of the week we commemorate the resurrection from the dead of your Son Jesus Christ, our Savior.

ANNOUNCEMENTS
The second offering today is for salary support for Barth and Janine Chapman so they can continue their work as missionaries among the Hakka people in Taiwan.  Janine was a member here at Valley for several years before marrying Barth and joining him in ministry in Taiwan.  Let’s encourage them with a generous offering.

Wednesday, 6:00 AM Men’s Breakfast and Bible study at the Spot
9:30 AM Women’s Bible Study picnic/lunch at Ann De      Jager’s home.  All women are invited to join them today.
Thursday, 7:30 AM Johnny Hart Christian Breakfast at Kalurah Shrine
7:30 PM Worship ministry team meets

Greg Huck will undergo prostate surgery this Tuesday in Rochester.  Pray that the procedure goes well with no complications or side effects and that the cancer will be completely removed.

We extend Christian sympathy to the Bensley families (former members at Valley and known to many of us) at the death of Karl Bensley last Sunday.  May God give comfort and daily grace to Joyce and her family in their loss.

Are you able to help out with children’s church during the summer?  You can sign up for just one or two Sundays – you don’t need to commit to doing a whole month.  There are videos to show and snacks to serve.  Thank you to all who have already signed up, allowing those who have served in this capacity for the last year to have a summer break.  Contact Ron or Janet Crawford if you can help.

Starting today and continuing through Labor Day, we will be enjoying refreshments after the morning service.  Because worship starts earlier, there is more time for fellowship and welcoming guests.  If you haven’t already done so, please sign up for a summer Sunday when you will bring the refreshments.

The Dick’s Sporting Goods golf tournament will be in Endicott this week.  The Johnny Hart Memorial Christian breakfast will be held on Thursday at 7:30 AM at the Kalurah Shrine.  There will be a Valley Church table or tables.  Ron Crawford has the tickets today ($10.00 for breakfast and course admission for the pro-am that day).

Council notes:

NEXT SUNDAY, June 28, 2009

SUNDAY SCHOOL:  There are no Sunday School classes until September.

MORNING WORSHIP:  10:00 AM  Pastor Gelder continues a summer series of messages “Learning from the First Churches” based on stories in Acts 10-28.  We will visit the church in Lystra as described in Acts 14:21-25 and 16:1-5.  We will also honor those in our fellowship who are graduates of high school or college.

3:30 PM  Pastor Gelder will be leading a worship time for the residents of the Fairview-Good Shepherd Home.  If you can join for the service and to greet residents following, that will be much appreciated.
