WE ENTER INTO GOD’S PRESENCE
Preparation for Worship
*Opening Prayer
God of new beginnings, you wipe away our tears and call us to care for one another. Give us eyes to see your gifts, hearts to embrace all creation, and hands to serve you every day of our lives. We ask this in the name of Jesus. And God’s people said.
Amen.

Call to Confession
When we gather to praise God, we remember that we are people who have preferred our wills to his. Accepting his power to become new persons in Christ, let us confess our sin before God and one another.
Prayer of Confession
Loving God, we confess that sometimes we think we can do things all by ourselves and sometimes we are worried about things. We forget that you give us everything we have and that you make us who we are. Please forgive us for thinking about ourselves first. Forgive us for not trusting you to take care of us. Thank you for always loving us even when we forget that we need you. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Congratulations to Jim Michalac and Heather de Haan who were married yesterday. May God bless them richly in their life together.
The second offering next Sunday will be for the Broome County Council of Churches CHOW ministry. When our local pantry runs short of food, we are able to get staples from the CHOW warehouse. Your generous support helps not only the Valley pantry but also more than twenty other pantries in Broome County.
Thank you to all who did so much work last Sunday to make the fifth annual Fall Festival the best ever. Thanks to God for another beautiful day and for stirring many of our neighbors to come over and enjoy the games and food and other activities. Thanks to all who helped with an activity, who supervised a station, who baked cookies, who were just there to greet people and let them know more about Valley Church and our ministries in this community. A special thanks to those who again this year planned and organized the Festival. God was honored in what we did.
We have a good problem – our Sunday School is growing and that means we need more adults to be mentors to the children. If you are willing to pray for a child and make personal contact and send notes or e-mail to him or her occasionally, talk with Tammie Gryskevicz or Debbie Harmon. They will gladly link you with a child.
