WE ENTER INTO GOD’S PRESENCE

Preparation for Worship
*Call to Worship
The earth is the Lord’s and all that is in it,
the world, and those who live in it;
for he has founded it on the seas,
and established it on the rivers.
Who shall ascend the hill of the Lord?
And who shall stand in his holy place?
Those who have clean hands and pure hearts,
who do not lift up their souls to what is false,
and do not swear deceitfully.
We are gathered to praise our gracious God.
Praise God, from whom all blessings flow!

ANNOUNCEMENTS

If you are a part of the Valley Church family, we’d like to encourage you to be part of a small group for either study, fellowship, support, common interests, or any combination of the above.  This morning you will have an opportunity to find out about groups that are presently meeting and to indicate your interest in joining an existing group or starting a new one.  Check out the information on the table in the narthex while you enjoy your coffee and cake.

The special refreshments following worship this morning are in honor of Joe and Jan Patak’s 55th wedding anniversary.  Congratulations and may God bless them with many more years together.

Congratulations to Adam and Cheryl DeVoe on the birth of their son Maverick on October 17.  May God bless them richly in their new role as parents.

Tom Reynolds continues his post-surgery recovery at home.  Pray for regained strength and energy.

Keith Krempel is home again after his heart attack and by-pass surgery.  Pray that he too will regain strength and energy and that he will benefit from the follow-up program of rehabilitation given to him.

Eugene (Lucky) Dimidio has been in Lourdes Hospital receiving antibiotic treatment for an infection in his knee.  Pray for his complete recovery and for a speedy return home.

OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD:  You can still bring small items to help fill the shoe boxes the children will be packing next Sunday. It costs $7.00 per box to ship them, so your financial help with this expense is also needed.  You can write a check to Valley Church and put “shoebox” or “Christmas Child” in the memo line and the deacons will get the money to the right place.

The repeat presentation of “Living with 4 Generations”, Ron Crawford’s fast-paced analysis of how people in different age groups respond differently to situations and how they can learn to work together when aware of these differences, will be presented on Thursday, November 12 at 7:00 PM here at Valley Church. This information is helpful as we relate with others in the church as well as at work or in our community groups.  Put the date on your calendar, plan to attend, and bring some friends with you.

Wednesday, 7:00 PM Aerobics class
Thursday, 7:00 PM Council meets

NEXT SUNDAY, November 8, 2009

SUNDAY SCHOOL:  9:15 AM  Classes for all ages meet.  The adult class continues their series of studies on the book of Revelation, “God Wins:  a Look at the Mysteries of Revelation.”  Plan to join us for an eye-opening view of Jesus walking among his churches, battling the evil one throughout history, winning the victory at Calvary and returning in majesty and glory.

MORNING WORSHIP: 10:30 AM  Pastor Gelder will bring the message, continuing the series of messages “Good Questions, Great Answers”.  The message will be “Is There No Balm in Gilead?” based on Jeremiah 8:22.

We will be celebrating the Lord’s Supper at this service.  Take time this week to do some self-examination.  Is your heart right with God?  Does your life faithfully reflect your position as a child of God?  Are you deeply grateful for your salvation?

The second offering will be a “reverse offering”.  The second plate passed will be filled with slips of paper listing items needed for the Thanksgiving baskets the deacons will be preparing for families in our community whom the Chenango Forks School social workers have identified as being in special need this year.  You will have the opportunity to take a paper (or two or three) and bring the item(s) the following Sunday.
