Call to Worship
All who thirst, come to the water.
Come, all who are weary;
come, all who yearn for forgiveness.
The Holy Spirit through Jesus Christ has washed over us,
and our gracious and holy God beckons and blesses us.
Drink deeply of these living waters.
Glory to you, O Lord, glory to you.

Prayer of Confession
Gracious God, our sins are too heavy to carry, too real to hide, and too deep to undo. Forgive what our lips tremble to name, what our hearts can no longer bear, and what has become for us a consuming fire of judgment. Set us free from a past that we cannot change; open to us a future in which we can be changed; and grant us grace to grow more and more in your likeness and image; through Jesus Christ, the light of the world. Amen.

The sixth annual Fall Festival is today from 1-4 PM. Thanks to all who helped with the planning and with the set up that’s already been done. Even if you didn’t sign up for a specific area or time to work, we can still use your help. See Ron Crawford to offer your assistance. There is pizza and soda after the morning service for those who are staying around to work the Festival. There is also more set-up to be completed. Most importantly, even if you can’t stay the full three hours, please stay or come back to help us welcome our neighbors and friends to Valley Church. This event is an important part of presenting a positive face of Christ’s church to people who don’t already have a relationship with Christ or his church.
There are some extra Valley Church shirts available for you to wear today during Fall Festival. It is an easy way for our guests to identify who are the Valley Church people and who are guests like them. If you wish to contribute to the cost of the shirts, they are $7.50 each. Don’t let cost stand in your way – we’d like all Valley people to be visible today and at other church events as well.
Continue to pray for Matt Martinichio. Hopefully he will be able to go to school this week, having had stitches removed on Friday.
Dick Thomas is now living in the assisted living center of Good Shepherd at Endwell. He has made a good transition to this new setting. Continue to pray for him.
Just a heads up – Parent’s Night Out will be starting up again on Saturday, October 2. Your help will be needed and appreciated. Also, as was mentioned last Sunday, we hope to involve some new people in leading the children’s church time. There is a ready-to-go curriculum for you to use. If you can help with this for a month or two, talk with Ron or Janet Crawford.
NEXT SUNDAY, September 26, 2010
SUNDAY SCHOOL: 9:15 AM A new season of classes for all ages from pre-school through adult has begun. You are encouraged to join a class appropriate to your age and interest. The adult class continues a video-assisted study of “The Gospel in Life” by Tim Keller.
MORNING WORSHIP: 10:30 AM Pastor Gelder will lead our worship, continuing the series of messages from Paul’s letter to the Ephesians. We will be focusing on Ephesians 2:1-10, “Grace and Good Works”.
The second offering will be for the Holistic Ministry Team of Classis Atlantic Northeast. The focus of this ministry it to help churches work intentionally with their communities in a full-orbed ministry. Funds received are used to help start community development projects in places served by the churches of CANE, especially in those places with limited financial resources.
