WE ENTER INTO GOD’S PRESENCE
Preparation for Worship
Call to Worship –
When Moses gathered the people of Israel, God said,
“I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.”
As we gather here today, let us worship the Lord, who continues to be our God and who still brings us out of the places of our bondage.
Praise God, from whom all blessings flow!
*Song of Praise – 638 “Praise God from Whom All Blessings Flow”

Call to Confession –
The apostle John wrote:
“My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin.  But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous; and he is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world.”  (I John 2:1-2)
In the strength of this assurance, let us confess our sins to God.
Prayer of Confession –
Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of your name; deliver us, and forgive our sins, for your name’s sake.  Restore us, O Lord God of hosts; let your face shine, that we may be saved.  Amen.  (Psalm 79:9; 80:19)
Assurance of Pardon –
Here are words you may trust, words that merit full acceptance:
Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners.  To all who confess their sins and resolve to lead a new life, he says, “Your sins are forgiven.”  He also says, “Follow me.”  Now to the one who rules all worlds, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever.
Thanks be to God!

THIS WEEK IN THE LIFE OF VALLEY CHURCH
The message today is brought by Messianic Rabbi Ron Goldberg.  We are pleased to welcome him back to Valley Church and pray that God will bless the message he brings us today.  The Gelders are on vacation and will be returning Wednesday evening.  Contact an elder if you need pastoral care during this time.

Thursday, 7:00 PM Prayer Meeting

If you haven’t helped yet with preparing the new windows for installation, please do so this week.  The more volunteer help we have with this, the lower the total cost to the church.  If you can help for even a part of a day, talk with Dave Huizinga or Jim Conrad.

There will be an open house at Betsy Gelder’s new home at 414 Firth St. in Endicott this Wednesday, August 22 from 4-6 PM.  You are invited to drop in to see the home and meet some of the staff.  If you can make it, please RSVP to 239-5064.

Next Sunday, August 26, 2007

MORNING WORSHIP:     10:00 AM   Pastor Gelder will be leading our worship, continuing the summer series on the difficult sayings of Jesus.  The message will be “Turn the Other Cheek?” based on Matthew 5:39 and 44.  There will also likely be the reception of new members that day.
