God of our lives, by the power of your Holy Sprit we have been drawn together by one baptism into one faith, serving one Lord and Savior.
Do not let us tear away from one another through division or bad argument.  May your peace embrace our differences, preserving us in unity, as one body of Jesus Christ, our Lord.  Amen.
*Blessed to Serve
May the God who makes everything holy and whole, make you holy and whole, put you together – spirit, soul, and body – and keep you fit for the coming of our Master, Jesus Christ.
The One who called us is completely dependable.  If he said it, he will do it!  Amen.   (from I Thessalonians 5:23-24, The Message)

ANNOUNCEMENTS
This morning we will witness the public profession of faith of Kevin Aukema.  Though he and Joy live and work in the Syracuse area, he wishes to make his public profession of faith in the church where he grew up and was nurtured in his faith.  They will also reaffirm God’s promises to their son Brady in this service.

Saturday, 9:00 AM Spring clean-up day
There’s always a lot of work to do in cleaning the church building and sprucing up the grounds after a long winter.  If you come to help us Saturday, we can get a lot done and have a good time together doing it.  We’ll start at 9 AM (come when you can) and coffee, snacks and lunch will be provided.  If you have questions about what to bring or what you can do if you can’t be there Saturday, talk with Jim Conrad.
Our summer intern will be arriving in Binghamton in early June.  There is a picture of David and Sara Bosscher on the coffee table.  They are looking forward to the time they will spend in ministry here this summer.
Announcements from Florence re intern housing and Leadership Summit.
Repeat announcement about farewell doings.
The lock to the front door of the church has failed and has been replaced with a new lock, requiring a new key.  Current key holders should see Tim Brown to get a new key.
NEXT SUNDAY, May 22, 2011
SUNDAY SCHOOL:  9:15 AM  Classes for all ages meet.  The adult class begins a new video series, presented by Erwin McManus, called “The Controversial Jesus”.
MORNING WORSHIP:  10:30 AM  Pastor Gelder will bring us God’s Word, continuing a series of messages on “Things I Want to Say.”  The message this week will be one he and Jan will be presenting together, “Give God a Year”, based on Acts 16:6-10.

There will be a second offering for the ministry of Barth and Janine Chapman in Taiwan.  They are blessed and encouraged by our continuing financial and prayer support.  For people newer to Valley Church, Janine was a member of Valley for several years, very active in worship and drama, prior to her marriage to Barth and their moving to Taiwan to serve as missionaries there.
