WE ENTER INTO GOD’S PRESENCE
Preparation for Worship
*Call to Worship
This is the day that the Lord has made.
Let us rejoice and be glad in it!
This is the day when He rose again.
Let us rejoice and be glad in it!
This is the day when the Spirit came.
Let us rejoice and be glad in it!
And again I say –
Rejoice!
*Opening Praise – 561:1,2,5 “Rejoice, O Pure in Heart”

Celebration of the Lord’s Supper
Come to this table:
you who have much faith, and you who would like to have more; you who have been to this sacrament often, and you who have not been for a long time;
you who have tried to follow Jesus, and you who have failed.
Come. It is Christ who invites us to meet him here.
The Lord be with you.
And also with you.
Lift up your hearts.
We lift them up to the Lord.
Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
It is right for us to give thanks and praise.
We give thanks to God the Father that our Savior, Jesus Christ, before he suffered, gave us this memorial of his sacrifice, until he comes again. At his last supper, the Lord Jesus took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, “This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me.” In the same way, he took the cup after supper and said, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this in remembrance of me.” For whenever we eat this bread and drink this cup, we proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.
Praise to you, Lord Jesus:
dying, you destroyed our death;
rising, you restored our life.
Lord Jesus, come in glory.
Lord, our God, send your Holy Spirit so that this bread and cup may be for us the body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ. May we and all your saints be united with Christ and remain faithful in hope and love. Gather your whole church, O Lord, into the glory of your kingdom.
Amen.
The gifts of God for the people of God.
The body of Christ, the bread of heaven.
Thanks be to God.
The blood of Christ, the cup of salvation.
Thanks be to God.

ANNOUNCEMENTS
This morning our worship includes the celebration of Holy Communion. Participation in eating the bread and drinking the juice is for all who have publicly professed their faith in Jesus as Savior, whether at Valley Church or another Christian church, and who are living as best they can the life Jesus called us to live. The elders will distribute the elements to you where you are seating. We will eat together and drink together after all have been served.

The annual Synod of the Christian Reformed Church is meeting this week in Chicago. Pray for God’s will to be done and for the deliberations to be carried on in a spirit of unity and peace.
We plan to honor our graduates on June 28. We don’t want to miss anyone, so please put the names of all our high school and college graduates, along with the school from which they are graduating, on the list posted on the exit door.
Next Sunday, June 21 is the start of our summer worship schedule. There will be no Sunday School classes until after Labor Day. Morning worship will be at 10:00 AM. We will continue to have a special children’s time upstairs during the second half of the service. To give the regular children’s church volunteers a break, we need YOU to consider taking a Sunday or two to show a video and serve a snack to the children. Talk with Ron or Janet Crawford if you will help out in this way.
Starting next Sunday and continuing through Labor Day, we will have some refreshments after the morning service. Because worship starts earlier, there is more time for enjoying fellowship and welcoming guests. If you haven’t already done so, please sign up for a summer Sunday when you will bring the refreshments.
The Dick’s Sporting Goods golf tournament will be in Endicott the last week in June. The Johnny Hart Memorial Christian breakfast will be held on Thursday, June 25 at 7:30 AM at the Kalurah Shrine. There will be a Valley Church table or tables. Ron Crawford will arrange for the tickets ($10.00 for breakfast and course admission for the pro-am that day). See him so he knows how many tickets we’ll need.
NEXT SUNDAY, June 21, 2009
SUNDAY SCHOOL: There are no Sunday School classes until September.
MORNING WORSHIP: 10:00 AM Pastor Gelder continues a summer series of messages “Learning from the First Churches” based on stories in Acts 10-28. We will visit the church in Antioch as described in Acts 11:19-26; 13:1-3. TAKE NOTE OF THE EARLIER WORSHIP TIME!
The second offering will be for the salary support of Barth and Janine Chapman so they can continue their work as missionaries among the Hakka people in Taiwan. Let’s encourage them with a generous off
