Prayer of Confession
Awesome and compassionate God, you have loved us with unfailing, self-giving mercy, but we have not loved you.  You constantly call us, but we do not listen.  You ask us to love, but we walk away from neighbors in need, wrapped in our own concerns.  We condone evil, prejudice, warfare, and greed.  God of grace, as you come to us in mercy, we repent in spirit and in truth, admit our sin, and gratefully receive your forgiveness through Jesus Christ, our Redeemer.  Amen.
Invitation to the Lord’s Supper
Celebration of the Lord’s Supper
The Lord be with you.
And also with you.
Lift up your hearts.
We lift them up to the Lord.
Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
It is right for us to give thanks and praise.
We give thanks to God the Father that our Savior, Jesus Christ, before he suffered, gave us this memorial of his sacrifice, until he comes again.
At his last supper, the Lord Jesus took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, “This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me.”
In the same way, he took the cup after supper and said, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this in remembrance of me.”
For whenever we eat this bread and drink this cup, we proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.
Therefore we proclaim our faith as signed and sealed in this sacrament:
Christ has died,
Christ is risen,
Christ will come again.
Lord , our God, send your Holy Spirit so that this bread and cup may be for us the body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ.  May we and all your saints be united with Christ and remain faithful in hope and love.  Gather your whole church, O Lord, into the glory of your kingdom.
Amen.
The gifts of God for the people of God.
The body of Christ, given for you.
Thanks be to God.
The blood of Christ, shed for you.
Thanks be to God.

ANNOUNCEMENTS
Our worship this morning includes the celebration of the Lord’s Supper.  Remember that the bread and the cup of juice are meant for all who have publicly professed that Jesus is their Lord and the one whose death on the cross paid the price for their sins.  If this is true of you, and if you are living a life that reflects that truth, please receive the bread and cup as they are passed to you.  We will eat and drink together after all have been served.

Saturday, 7:00 PM Bronzissimo! Spring Concert

Bronzissimo! will be holding their spring concert here at Valley Church this Saturday evening at 7:00 PM.  This hand bell choir is made up of some of the best ringers in the Southern Tier.  Invite a friend to come with you for an evening of delightful music played with skill and flair.  You won’t be disappointed.  If you can bring some cookies for light refreshments after the concert, talk with Esther Hamlin or Ann De Jager today.

The Christian Fellowship Breakfast associated with the Dick’s Sporting Goods Open golf tournament is Thursday, June 24, 7:30 AM.  Tickets, which include admission to the pro-am that day, are still just $10.00.  We will again have designated tables for Valley folk and friends.  You can get your tickets from Ron Crawford.

The annual spring congregational meeting was held last Wednesday evening.  Elders selected were Doug Aukema (one year) and Greg Huck (three year).  Deacons selected were Marsha Conrad (two year), Beth Cunningham and Henry Huizinga (three year).  Please check your mail slots today for important material shared at the meeting.

Pray for the delegates to the Synod of the Christian Reformed Church as they are meeting in Chicago this week.  Our special prayers are with Tim Brown, one of the delegates from Classis Atlantic Northeast.  You can follow what is going on by going to the CRCNA web site at www.crcna.org and following the links to Synod.  Many of the sessions are streamed live.

We will be changing to our summer worship schedule next Sunday, June 20.  From then through Labor Day weekend, worship will begin at 10:00 AM.  There will be no Sunday School classes but children’s church activities will continue for the summer as we get volunteers.  If you can help with a couple Sundays, talk with Ron or Janet Crawford or sign up on the sheet posted on the door.

Graduation Sunday will be observed on June 27.  To make sure we don’t miss any of our high school or college graduates, please place their names on the sheet on the door as you leave today.  Thank you.

Jerry Krempel continues to be at home but is very weak.  Keep him and his family in your prayers.

Congratulations to Dan Huizinga and Erin Downs.  They were married Saturday afternoon in a ceremony here at Valley Church.  May God bless them in keeping the vows they made to each other and before God.

NEXT SUNDAY, June 20, 2010
MORNING WORSHIP:  10:00 AM  NOTE CHANGE OF TIME.  Pastor Gelder will lead our worship, continuing the series of messages on “Creation Care”, a biblical view of our responsibility to care for the world God made.  The message will focus on “A Great Privilege” based on Genesis 1:28-31.  If you have things you are doing to care for God’s creation, let pastor know.  He may use your story as part of the wrap-up of this short series if you give permission.
There will be a second offering as we support the mission work of Barth and Janine Chapman in Taiwan.  Generous giving in this offering will be a big encouragement to them as they carry on a ministry God is blessing.
Softball game at 4:00 PM at Schnurbusch Park in Conklin, playing the team from Conklin Presbyterian Church.
