Call to Worship –

As you walk among us, you know our deeds, both the deeds that honor you and those that bring dishonor to your name.  But we confess that too often it is our hearts that are far from you, even when we go through the motions of being good people.  Forgive us for forsaking the love we had at first.  Pardon us for having fallen so far short of the glory of God.  We come with repentant hearts, seeking your mercy, pleading that you will not remove our lamp stand from its place.   Amen.

THIS WEEK IN THE LIFE OF VALLEY CHURCH
The message this morning will be brought by elder Bill Kutz.  We thank him for his willingness to lead us in this way too.  May God bless the words he brings in the pastor’s absence.  The Gelders are away this week and part of next week on vacation.  Please contact an elder if you need pastoral care during this time.

Thursday, 7:00 PM Prayer Meeting

The second offering this morning is for our CHOW Pantry here at Valley Church.  Your generous monetary support will allow our coordinators to buy items that have not been donated and which are needed to provide a balanced food source for our clients.

The new windows that will be installed upstairs have arrived.  That means it is time for getting them stained and coated with polyurethane.  The more volunteer help we have with this, the lower the total cost to the church.  If you can help for even a part of a day, talk with Dave Huizinga or Jim Conrad as soon as possible.

Dick Crawford has again been in Wilson Hospital following a fall at home which resulted in a broken rib and collapsed lung.  Pray for relief from the pain this brings.  He also has reduced kidney function and the doctors are trying to determine the cause of this added problem.

Advance notice:  There will be an open house at Betsy Gelder’s new home at 414 Firth St. in Endicott on Wednesday, August 22 from 4-6 PM.  You are invited to drop in to see the home and meet some of the staff.  If you can make it, please RSVP to 239-5064.
